Job Description

Dishwasher, Biltmore Company - 10/01/2021 - 01/01/2022. 20 temporary full-time openings. 

Primarily responsible for washing and storing all dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans and other cooking utensils, and will maintain all aspects of kitchen sanitation. Additional duties include: clean and properly store pots, pans, and other utensils; clean sink and pots area after every shift; wash and store all dishes, glassware and silverware properly; maintain floor cleanliness through consistent mopping and sweeping of floors; clean dish machine; empty all garbage and clean cans when needed; clean all food and beverage areas, including walls, ceiling, lights, equipment receiving area, as instructed; assist others in receiving and storing items from delivery truck, and ensure proper storage and rotation of product; and maintain rear receiving areas and trash areas and mop areas in clean and orderly fashion. Ideal candidate will have some food/beverage experience, strong attention to detail and the ability to work under a deadline in a fast paced guest service environment. May help with food prep occasionally. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.  All applicants (U.S. workers and foreign workers) must meet hiring standards of Biltmore:  must be functionally literate, and have a criminal background check void of any misdemeanors within 2 years or felonies within 7 years.  Employer will conduct background check post offer of employment and pre-hire.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs. maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.  Requires walking or standing to an extensive degree; Will be standing entire shift, mainly in the dish area. Must be able to work effectively in a loud kitchen environment with occasional extremes in temperature (heat, cold, humidity) for an extended period of time and follow basic safety protocols.  Workers will be provided with on the job training to perform the duties assigned if necessary.

Shifts:  7:00 am - 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.  Thursday - Wednesday, 35 hours per week.  Base rate $15.00 per hour and $22.50 per hour for OT when available.  Merit increases and performance bonuses possible. Must be able to work days/hours needed, including weekends & holidays. 

Employer will use a single workweek to compute wage due.  Employer uses a Thursday - Wednesday workweek as the standard for computing wages due and are paid weekly.  Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.  Employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck as required by law. Employer will provide workers without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies and equipment required to perform the job.  Workers have the option to live in Employer provided housing.  Housing in shared apartment or shared extended stay hotel room will be available at a cost not to exceed $160 per week through payroll deduction.  Transportation assistance through an approved ride service (Lyft Pass and estate shuttle) for travel to and from work is available for an additional $15 per week through payroll deduction.  Shift meal provided during workday at no charge.

H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Employer will provide transportation and subsistence (including meals and to the extent necessary, lodging) from the place of recruitment to the place of work.  If the worker does not use the Employer arranged and paid for transportation, the employer will reimburse the worker for any transportation costs incurred.  If the workers require reimbursement for any transportation costs, and subsistence (including meals and lodging), the employer will reimburse workers in the first week.  Upon completion of the employment period or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation & subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer.  The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical & reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.  Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts.
