In serving its mission of providing excellence in patient care and service in mental health, the department operates several clinical service lines, covering a full spectrum of psychiatric disorders across the life span. We provide these services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. These services are offered at the department-operated outpatient centers, at various affiliated community sites across Eastern North Carolina, and Vidant Medical Center, a 900+ bed tertiary care academic medical center. The hospital provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation, and outpatient health services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. The hospital also has a 52-bed psychiatric service that house acute beds, combine MI-ID beds, and combined Med-Psych beds.
Job Duties
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (ECU) is now accepting applications for a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. The position offers an excellent blend of clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activities in this growing, multi-disciplinary, and collegial Department.
The faculty member will work in both community-based and university settings. The successful candidate will provide direct clinical care both face-to-face and via telepsychiatry) as well as in community health centers, consultation with pediatric practices, juvenile justice, assist in teaching and clinical supervision of medical students, residents, and other health professional trainees; collaborate with other faculty members in conducting clinical research, with the opportunity to initiate projects if desired; and function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as appropriate to academic rank and position.
Minimum Education/Experience
Requirements include MD or equivalent degree from an appropriately accredited institution, completion of accredited child and adolescent residency training, and board certification or eligibility for board certification.
Eligible for license in the State of North Carolina.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience working in clinical settings in medical school Department of Psychiatry.
Experience working collaboratively with other mental health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience working in academic healthcare settings.
Clinical experience working with persons who have intellectual disabilities.
